Advice on Chert(?)

I decided to have a go at a lump of what I took to be possibly chert I found on a trip to darkest England. very white, and extremely chopped about, but measuring 20cm x 10cm x 6cm.

I gave it a tentitive hit and, of course, ended up with three 'slabs'. The fresh faces on it are very chalky looking, and quite grainy. Now, I'm in unknown territory over this stuff, and I'm assuming it is just unknappable, fault ridden stuff.

any thoughts? Or should I just dump it.

Could try heat treating it, most chert is heat treated before use from what I understand.

Thing is, from the outside, it looks pale grey, slight blue tinge to it, and quite flint like.

As I said, I'm in unknown territory with it.
