I must be a nerd Very Happy  my thought is - wow I am going to be playing with a lighter later, I wonder if it would ignite by whacking it with a hammer.

My thought is, I must go out and buy a lighter, then test it with flint ground up to different textures or not ground at all.

just tried it, it takes some doing to get a pile of flint chippings so maybe time to remove the flint and grind up, interesting to use natural ground flint must give that one a go,

I gave it a go, while I was making the pile I accidental sparked and the powder caught fire. Now flint dust is non-flammable so I guessed the lighter flint must be made of something else and a quick search came up with this. I guess this also answers the question in the other post too, as to what is the flint in a flint firlighter made of.... not flint.
