Woodworking with Copper Tools

Many many years ago I made some copper tools and decided to try some experimental archaeology with them.

Here's the experiment, copper is blunt but flint is sharp, I used and Adze, an Axe and a Chisel to work a piece of wood and timed myself to see how efficient they were, I was quite impressed with how well copper works wood, better than flint.

very smart - I found a Bronze age Spear and a BA Hammer while metal detecting and part of a Knife, the spear is so sharp even tody you could cut yourself - I think the problem with reconstruction is the mix of alloys that are used to maintain the shape of the item.

Makes you realise how revolutionary these items must have been at the time.

I have never found any BA stuff yet, but have held a lovely little BA axehead someone else found.

yep I still have every item I have found apart from the rings I have found on the beach. I will see if I can get some pictures taken,
