Artifacts to ID

This isn't a new find, I've had it a while but didn't realise what it was. I found it in the Iron Age Hillfort discussed in this topic, https://uk-knapping.forumotion.co.uk/t187-artifact-hunting.

Anyway today I decided to try something I've been meaning to do for years, learn slinging. I found a suitable youtube vids, made myself a nice prehistoric style sling and started researching British sling stones, after viewing a few I saw this one in Shrewsbury Museum

After seeing the picture all sort of bells starting ringing and I quickly dug out this strange thing I had found before and fortunately not thrown away. The resemblance is uncanny. So any experts, what do you think?

They are rather similar, are the diameters close, and do you know what the stone is also? A nice find.

The stone looks like the local flint, I've knapped a lot of the pebbles and most have that exact same distinct cortex colour. Also in this area the only rock is flint and there's about 4 gazillion pebbles, basically the whole area's built on chalk. The diameter is 27mm which is quite small for a sling stone, most are bigger, but there are a few at this bottom range in collections. Finds Database has a few round pebbles with no context, it lists them as maybe sling stones but not for sure. To get it that round must have been pretty labour intensive, it could be a prestige piece, not designed for shooting perhaps.

problem is these sligshot were natural pebbles most of the time so it may of been used - truth is we will never know - but the find location and other items in the area may answer this or at least give a better indication.
