5400 Year old Bow and Arrow Found

A Elm bow and long ground slate points, kewl.  And i love how the Daily Mail still managed to wring some scare mongering out of this article, they're priceless!

It's quite strange, the archaeologists talked about global warming melting the snow to reveal the objects and the Daily Mail didn't launch into a tirade how global warming is fraud and part of a plot to take over the world by islamic/communist/gypsy/terrorists. The paper must be slipping.

True, in the old days they would probably have said that the bow is evidence of an impending wave of immigration that will send the NHS into meltdown, resulting in us all dying from Ebola!

Would the article like to say "melting ice due to global warming" just one more time? I missed it the first ten times.

I had to look up this article, yep, it's in Antiquity and actually up to date. It's from september 2013 and the artifacts are being recovered by volunteers from ice patches on the north and east sides from low peaks.
These areas are being searched at the end of summer when the snow and ice has been melted as much as it can in a year.
The sites are fairly small marginal permafrost given that the warmer air will be coming from the south and west at this time of year.
The areas have been yeilding Medieval and Iron Age material up to now, but the older artifacts are now coming out from the margins.
It would imply that the conditions are now at Neolithic temperatures or slightly warmer to get to these layers. Good gathering though.
