Hi again,

I completely understand if no one is interested in the knapping, but I was just wondering whether anyone could please give me a rough estimate of what you think it might cost to knap 50kg into the dimensions specified above? I was given an estimate by the quarry and I just wanted to see if it fits with what you would expect Smile

I would have knapped for you but I'm too far away I'm afraid.

It depends on what they are doing 50kg before knapping or 50kg after knapping. If I knapped 50kg you'd get about 20kg of spalls and 30kg of rubble. It would take less than an hour. To get 50kg of usable flint I would need 120kg of flint and a couple of hours. Highly skilled work, £30 and hour seems reasonable.

They will do the knapping by machine, it will be much quicker. I have no idea of the correct price.
