Need help finding the best place to sell a large collection
Hi all,
Could anyone advise me on the best place/places other than Ebay, to sell a large collection of Knapped pieces?.
I have built up a collection of 100 beautifully Knapped pieces which consists of:
Arrowheads, Dart Points, Spearheads, Knife Blades and Completed Knives, all in a wide range of styles.
No two pieces are the same and the variety of the collection is excellent.
The pieces have been Knapped from very striking and colourful stones ranging from Australian Mookiate, Brazilian Agate, Burns Green Obsidian, Various other Obsidians, Cherts, Flints, Fibre Optic Glass to name but a few.
Any advise would be very much appreciated.
Photographs can be provided if any of you think it would help in determining the best way in which to sell the collection.
Kind Regards and Many Thanks in advance of your feedback.

This is a poser, the only commercial knapping site I know is flintknappers.com which unfortunately doesn't do commission sales, it charges a flat rate to have a shop per month, but the first month is free. So you could sell there for a month. BushcraftUK forum has several archaeologists who may be interested or be able to give you advice. Similar to EBay but higher class and specifically for craft is Etsy, some knapped tools are being sold there now. Arrowheadology is a huge site where stone arrowhead collectors gather, so you may find someone interested there.

Re: Need help finding the best place to sell a large collection
Hi Grendel,
Thank you very much for your quick response and informative advice, very much appreciated.
You suggested a couple of alternatives that I hadn't considered.
I would prefer to sell the complete collection as a whole but it's proving to be quite a task finding a buyer for a large collection.
So my only other alternative would be to sell each piece individually via some of the suggestions you mentioned.
I have spent around the £2000 mark putting the collection together over a 3 year period and I know that I will probably end up selling
the collection at a loss should I find a buyer, but it's a loss I'd be willing to except given my current situation which has forced me into selling.
However I will definitely follow your advice if I have no luck in finding a buyer for the complete collection and I appreciate you taking the time to provide me with some good alternatives.
I will also upload some photos on here as the barnacle has suggested.
It's a really nice varied collection and I'd love to share them with you all to view, I think 100 photos would be a bit much, but I will pick a few
of my personal top favourites for your viewing pleasure.
Many Thanks again for taking the time to respond to my post.
Kind Regards
Jason
