Hi all. Thanks for having me.
I'm a Sheffield based knapper, though i use the term loosely. I mainly turn stuff into gravel. Very Happy
Due to my location i mainly knapp glass, though once a year i spend a week camping in the woods of Wiltshire around the summer solstice where i pick up a bit of surface stuff to turn into gravel too.
Rarely i manage something resembling a point or knife, but they're the exception.

Anyway that's me. Smile

The points are of Wiltshire flint i picked up whilst camping. the knife is aquarium glass i coloured with a marker pen to bring out the flaking.

I'd have laid money that knife was obsidian. I saw flint nodules just laying around at the bottom of hills in Wiltshire after a rainstorm last time I was there. Never thought to pick any up.

Thanks barnacle.
My latest batch of field found stuff is terrible. so cracked i can't get a thing out of it. Took me 2 bloody hours of walking to collect it too. :/
Think i'll just order some flakes on pay day. Smile

Glass is a good teacher, it can easily break if you misjudge a flake removal and you always have the flat to conquer. but it's soo pretty.
I need to get some more flint but I'm lucky, where I am I can pop to the local beach and get some reasonably intact flat nodules.
