I think Needham is just the name, not the parish. The quarry is near Castle Acre in west Norfolk. Best to check before you set off!

I see on the locations they have one in Needham market - wonder if they have the flint or only at the Castle Acre site.

There's another quarry with flint just along the road from ELy, closer than both the Needham ones and good flint too.

went to the Needham quarry the chap knew all to well about knapping and which flint was best although he never had much at the quarry as they don't stock it there but did say if I was to call in the future he would have some sent from the other quarry, - I did however find some flint - its not the best but I have had a small knap and it seems ok,

next time I will have to go to the other quarry you have mentioned,

I also found a nice sea urchin still in the nodule that will now be a man ornament in my office.

enough to keep me in rubble for a while - only a few lumps have a nice ring to them so think a lot has fractures in but a beggar cant be a chooser Smile

Eeee, so many flints. I think that I must set to the trip to this quarry from here, where I live. We have here only flints from glacier sediments and this flints are full of cracks. And it's difficult to knapping. Opava CZ

Yes, long journey, but it will be nice holiday, I will take a look at some castles in England, driving on the left site and nature, I have never been in England and I would like look there sometimes and in one way I would like collect flintstones. As much as I can bear. Good flint is better than salt.

you should make a trip to the Uk a well planned trip would be great - perhaps visit stonehenge although i think it has been ruined with the turnstyle gates. steve

I see also that Needham chalks have a quarry in Essex, there must be seams of flint in that place too. No chalk without flint...

Trouble is what kind of flint, yucky grey stuff or the good stuff. There are half a dozen quarries in Norfolk and Suffolk at least, only two do decent flint.
