Antler awls
Found some useful looking awls that look rather like knapping pressure flakers or notching tools at http://www.crossmancrafts.co.uk/sewing/ at a reasonable price, they sell one tipped with antler as well as steel. I'm tempted, beats making your own!

This site is already on my favourites list. I do leatherworking, and they have a fine selection of quality needles.
Must admit, didn't think about the awls for pressure knapping. Bit iffy about how thin they are myself.

They do look a bit on the thin side, back to making these things myself then! booo.

No harm in trying, that's how the wheel was invented.
