Norfolk quarry trip info? Empty Norfolk quarry trip info?

Thinking of heading down to pick up some flint, either Monday or Tuesday. Any info on which quarry is best? Do you have a choice of quarries even? Looking for medium sized nodules, maybe a couple of big ones, but I'm not that bothered really, as long as I have rock to hit! Taking the seats out of the picasso and getting as much as itll carry, given it's a 6hr round trip!
Thanks.

Castle Acre used to do some good medium size nodules, much better quality than the larger ones. Also they used to have some medium sized nodules from the Essex quarry there too. However I haven't been there for about 4 years, so no idea if this holds true now. Caister nodules are better than the Castle Acre large ones but not so good as the medium ones, access to the main flint piles is sometimes not possible so you have to go to the waste pile. Cromer Beach is also another option. Mr Herzian Cone gets his flint there, so could give you some details on quality.

Have you been to any of the Yorkshire quarries?

I'd love to know what the flint is like at these.

Anyway, let us know where you go and how you get along.

Thanks Grendel.
Not tried any of the Yorkshire quarries as I've never seen any feedback on them. I'd rather just go the tried and tested route of the Norfolk quarries. Looks like I'll head for Caistor then. Seems the safest bet on the little info I have.
